Lida & Lizzie is a two-in-one pattern that was created out of my desire to make beautiful quilts with as little fabric waste as possible. Lida and Lizzie are sisters in every sense of the word as the pieces are created as one but split off into their own journey into distinct but related quilts. I’ve started referring to them as the “friendship bracelets of quilts” thanks to a quilty friend’s suggestion. How fun would it be to spend a weekend with a best friend making Lida & Lizzie, each having one to take home as a keepsake of your friendship?

Lida & Lizzie is named after sister lakes in northern Minnesota in the United States (just 2 of the 10,000+ lakes Minnesota is known for). My mother grew up in the area, and many summers were spent on Lake Lida with my extended family, whether fishing from the end of the dock or soaking up some sun on the pontoon. Close your eyes and imagine you can smell the brine of the water and hear the coo of the loons.

I hope you enjoy your visit to northern Minnesota as you meet Lida & Lizzie. Grab some rhubarb pie and a fresh lemonade, and you’re halfway there.
